The 26th of December Foundation begins its activity in A Coruña (Galicia) in 2022, with the launch of an intervention group whose aim is to provide older LGTBIQ+ individuals with a safe space to share experiences and reflect on the ageing process, valuing their life stories. 

At the same time, we seek to be a point of reference for older LGTBIQ+ individuals in Galicia, offering services and programmes that improve their lives.

We also collaborate with other entities with the aim of creating a broad network in the territory that ensures adequate care, while developing training and awareness activities, expanding knowledge about older LGTBIQ+ individuals, with special emphasis on their realities and needs.

Apart from socialisation, training, and intervention activities, work is currently underway to open a residential resource. This housing is currently in the renovation phase, and we expect it to open its doors soon. 

In addition, the programme is being expanded Rejas Rosas to the Galician territory. This programme is developed in other penitentiary centres in Spain with the aim of providing support to LGTBIQ+ individuals serving any type of sentence. At the Texeiro Penitentiary Centre, an average of 15 individuals are attended to, providing group and individual care, thus responding to the specific demands of the incarcerated individuals, in direct coordination with the penitentiary centre team.
