Intersectionality and old age: a study on the perception of feminist activists in the Spanish state
Studies
This research conducted by Elena Molinero Garau, was the winner of the I Empar Pineda Award, for the promotion of research on older lesbian women in Spain.
The aim of Elena Molinero Garau's work is to explore whether the system of oppression constructed around old age is considered, in the realm of feminist activism in the Spanish state, as a system of oppression that intersects or overlaps with the system of oppression constructed around gender.
This work seeks to answer the research question through the perspectives and perceptions of feminist activists who develop their activism in the Spanish state and who have been gathered through a questionnaire. Through the articulation of partial visions and connoted knowledge, the results of this research aim to contribute to a transformative process of our activism in the first instance and of the realities in which it is inscribed as the ultimate goal, from an exercise of collective and critical reflection and debate.

The time of the rainbow
Audiovisual
On 26 June 1977, the Ramblas of Barcelona witnessed the first demonstration for the rights of homosexuals in our country. In July 2017, Madrid became the global headquarters of Pride Day. Between those two dates, forty years of struggles and changes; and also a time when those who managed to survive have grown old.
Within the LGBT community, the “elders” are the great forgotten. Sometimes they are not seen and at other times they are ignored. The reality is that, like the rest of the so-called “elderly”, they have special needs. And in their case, they carry a history of concealment, fears, and rejection, which many still find hard to forget.
