Josete Massa Residence
In March 2018, the Community of Madrid, in compliance with Law 3/2016, of 22 July, on Comprehensive Protection against LGTBIQ+phobia and Discrimination on the Grounds of Sexual Orientation and Identity in the Community of Madrid, ceded a building intended to be the first residence for LGTBIQ+ elderly people in the Community of Madrid and the Spanish state.
The residence is located on Arroyo Bueno street, 20-22 in the Madrid district of Villaverde. Previously, this building was an old residence of about 3300 square metres.
The opening of the residence is estimated to be in the coming months, with a capacity of 62 places for residents.
The residence will be distributed according to the degree of dependency of the internal persons, and there will be a focus on the automation of all its elements to make day-to-day life easier and, above all, personalised follow-up. Each of the floors will be decorated with a colour from the LGTBIQ+ flag.

Frequently asked questions
The Josete Massa Residence is a specialised resource for LGTBIQ+ elderly people and does not exclude people who are not part of the group.
Until the construction is finished, we cannot guarantee how to access the residence. Our intention is for most of the places to be contracted with the Public Administration, so the established procedures by the administration will need to be followed.
The building belongs to the Community of Madrid, which has granted it on a concession for 30 years to the 26th December Foundation, which is a private non-profit entity that will manage the residence.
It is not a residence that will be managed by a public administration. The Foundation's intention is to establish agreements to offer public places in this resource.
Absolutely not. This resource will be a reference space and an example of the value of diversity. The residence will be open to the neighbourhood, the city, and the world.
