Rejas Rosas
The programme Rejas Rosas is a programme that arises from the needs for support, accompaniment and technical advice identified by the social workers of the Soto del Real Penitentiary Centre. From this, the idea emerged to create a diversity group that serves as support and reference for LGTBIQ+ individuals entering the centre or who are already there.
After the group was established, they realised that they needed an entity with experience working on programmes with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated populations, and specialised in intervention with LGTBIQ+ individuals, which is why the centre contacted the 26th of December Foundation. And this is how, since April 2022, the 26th of December Foundation, along with the team of Social Workers from Soto del Real (Penitentiary Centre) and the participants, have been implementing the current programme.
Rejas Rosas is implemented in the centres of Soto del Real (Madrid) and Texeiro (Galicia).
This programme was recognised in June 2024 with the Rainbow award from the Ministry of Equality of the Government of Spain.
